Dino's bar and beyond.....

So it's been a couple of weeks since my last blog. Much has happened including a couple of tough matches and also a tough trip to Team manager's house Dino. What a legend. I will start with the story of Dino's Bar.

So we got invited to Dino and his wife Carla's house for a huge Italian feed. Myself plus the other 3 foreigners rocked up at mid day to be welcomed in and shown straight to our seats where we then sat for the whole afternoon and ate some of the best Italian food I have ever taste. Carla is a absolute goddess in the kitchen and I can see why Dino has a great gut on him.

The starter was a pasta dish followed by probably 100 pork and beef ribs done on the bbq. Then we had a little pudding cake and some dessert wine. During the feed we consumed lets say a little wine. Dino has his own cellar... Whoops.

Bubba and Dino enjoying a Spritz.
Bubba up Dino's tree. I think he was scared of Rocky the dog?
 Team Dino Bar.
 Carla cooking pasta dish. Unreal.
 RIBS!!!
 Cellar.

Cafe made by Carla. This had Grappa in it. Lethal stuff.
Bubba studying his Italian Dictionary after 5 bottles of unlabelled wine.

So that was Dino's bar/house.

Other news obviously was the World Cup being won by New Zealand. Living close too two Kiwi's I was taunted for being English way too much. New Zealand worthy winners and as for Richie Mccaw being the winning captain. What a legend. Surely one of the greatest ever players and he had to win.

This week the weather has also been a bit stinky. The best day was the day after the match where me and Anna headed to the beautiful city of Verona. It didn't dissapoint. The piazza/square is absolutely stunning and trips like that make this foreign experience all worth while.

Verona Piazza. Amazing feed in the sunshine.
The old colliseum which was amazing. The history attached to places like this make you think.
I have been watching Spartacus too much. Gladiators used to fight down there.
The Beard is coming on nicely.

This week again I have uploaded a load of Matt Hampson Foundation eBay store. Check this link to see another week of impressive items on offer at silly cheap prices.

First win and this is a mega blog. You gotta read it!!!!

So then the weather has changed so much since this time last week. Literally within one day it has dropped from an average of 28 down to 17 or so. Feels freeing. This week has been epic and I mean EPIC. We had a good week preparing for our first league game vs Lazio which we successfully won 22-14. It was our best performance since we have been together. The boys played well and it was brilliant to get off with a win especially against Lazio who have been a bit of a Bogey team against Mogliano.

Personally had an OK game. Missed a sitter of a kick but still kicked 3 from 4 and slotted a nice drop goal to finish the game off.

Above me getting a hug from Man of The Match Ali.

Above me squealing like a little girl after some mute smashed me.

So all in all a good game and I hope we can move on and improve again for this weeks big challenge against Rovigo..

At the beginning of the week my team mate Mark Burman had an appearance to make at the launch of the Super 10 Italian League and I saw this picture. There's definitely going to be some colourful games this season.

We are back left.....

Like I said before the weather has changed but last Friday when it rained wow did it rain. I was on route to pick my Mum up from the airport and after 4 weeks of hot sunshine the heavens opened and it smashed it down, sheet lightning and all. Was pretty awesome.

It was ace to have my Mum and her BF Andy over for the weekend and my first official match for Mogliano. We had a brilliant weekend apart from the England result of course. We managed to squeeze in a trip to Treviso, Venice and even a team social on the Saturday night where we ate like true Italians at 11pm in the evening in this great restaurant not too far from Mogliano. We will definitely be going back. Oh and I can't forget the little trip to the local Pizzeria also. See below. Small pizza......

As for the England game. Absolutely gutted. They definately could have beaten them had they taken their chances and as for all the chat about Johno getting the chop. Well personally that would be a terrible mistake. He is the best man for the job and I'm sure all the players will agree as he has there respect as a coach. When he talks they listen. Well that's what I used to do when he was captain at Leicester and I can't see how that would have changed now. The next few weeks will be interesting and I am very intrigued to see what Rob Andrew's review of it all looks like. What does he do again????

And this bloke just bates me but it is his job to do so. I miss the English Media. NOT!

So that's about it for this week just gone. Again this foreign experience is proving to be the right move and one that I'm enjoying. But I am missing some things. Especially English Marks and Spencer Bacon!!!!!!! I could eat some massive Italian sausage though. This is a strange thing to see..... below.

Oh I nearly forgot......

Last weekend I forgot to blog about a little trip myself and a couple of buddy's embarked on. These pictures paint a thousand words. Enjoy. P.S everyone must visit this pace at least once in their life times.....

OKTOBERFEST!!

Until next time. MC
